Get Qualified 2017 - 2023

Malta Enterprise

Get Qualified is an initiative that supports the personal development of individuals for the achievement of qualifications and certifications required by industry. The incentive is applicable to individuals following a course of studies leading to a certification, diploma, degree or post-graduate degree courses. Upon successful completion the student will benefit from a tax credit enabling them to recover part of the costs incurred.

Students following courses approved by the Ministry for Education and Employment are granted tax credits on the following costs:

  • fees paid by the individual to the university, institution or other entity recognised by the Ministry for Education and Employment for the training and educational services leading to the approved qualification.
  • fees for sitting for examinations required to achieve the approved qualification.
Courses on the RAVEN platform that are eligible for the Malta Enterprise Get Qualified Scheme will clearly indicate the Get Qualified Logo in the Course Landing Page.
 

Training Pays

JobsPlus Malta

The Training Pays Scheme, forms part of the ESF.01.001 – Training for Employment Project and it aims to assist individuals to develop and/or improve their skills by participating in further off-the-job education and training. 

The scheme offers assistance in the form of a training grant to aid participants with costs relating to training. This grant will be awarded to the individual (trainee) after successful completion of their training. 

The Scheme is open to applicants who have completed compulsory schooling up to 64 years of age. In the case of persons under 25 years of age, they must not be participating under the Youth Guarantee NEET Activation Scheme II. Individuals whose primary employment is self-employment are not eligible.

Prospective participants may apply for Awards and Qualifications as long as they are:

  • not offered by Jobsplus;
  • offered by a Maltese licensed Training Institution (provider must be licensed by NCFHE*);
  • pegged between MQF level 1 to 5.

*exceptions may apply in accordance to SL. 327.433 – Further & Higher Education (Licensing, Accreditation & Quality Assurance) Regulations

Applications must be received at least 2 weeks prior to the course start date.  Minimum cost of training (excluding VAT) is €100, be equivalent to 75% of the direct training cost excluding VAT and not exceed the maximum amount of €1,000.

Investing in Skills

JobsPlus Malta

The Investing in Skills Scheme was launched to promote the training of persons actively participating in the Maltese Labour Market, with the aim to increase productivity and enhance adaptability.  With a budget of €5 million available until 30th June 2023, this scheme falls under Malta’s Operational Programme II of the European Social Fund – ‘Investing in human capital to create more opportunities and promote the well-being of society’ for the 2014-2020 programming period.

The scheme is intended for all Employers having an economic activity irrespective of their legal form. These include partnerships, companies, family businesses, associations, individual self-employed or other body of persons, NGOs and Social Partners.

Employers applying for the Scheme will be eligible to receive a subsidy of €25.70 per trainee per hour in the case of training costs and €5.15 for wage costs. Wage costs would only be claimable for Instructor Led RAVEN Lessons (Classroom or Virtual). The scheme also covers air travel for courses which require travel outside of Malta.

Complete applications must be received by the Investing in Skills Unit at least twenty-one calendar days before the start date of training but not later than seven (7) calendar days before the start of the training.

All RAVEN courses (except accredited awards and qualifications with ECTS credits for MQF Level 6 or above) are eligible for this scheme. For help with the application, especially for training programmes and schedules, please contact RAVEN below.
