Course Overview
The ICAO Evidence-based Training (EBT) concept (ICAO Doc 9995) provides a framework for delivering a competence-based model of recurrent training. Initially intended for airline pilot recurrent training, the model can be adapted to any situation where periodic revalidation of employee competence is required. This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of EBT fundamentals, guiding participants through the development of the EBT framework and the implementation of necessary processes to ensure effective training programs.
Participants will explore the core elements of Evidence-Based Training, gaining practical skills in designing modules and establishing robust training processes. Additionally, the course will clarify the distinctions between EBT and other training models, such as CBTA, while also demonstrating potential synergies between them.
There are fundamental differences between EBT and the CBTA model used for other types of training. This course will explain those differences but also explain how the 2 paradigms can be used together where appropriate
For non-airline delegates, the course will explain how to adapt and apply the concepts to their local situation.
In summary, this course equips participants with the knowledge and skills needed to navigate the complexities of Evidence-Based Training. By providing practical guidance and fostering a collaborative learning environment, participants will emerge prepared to implement EBT principles in their organizations, promoting continuous improvement and competency development.

FAQ
What is the focus of the Implementing EBT course?
This course provides a comprehensive guide to the ICAO Evidence-based Training (EBT) concept (Doc 9995). It equips training managers and pilots with the skills to develop competency models, design EBT modules, and manage the transition to a performance-based training framework.
Is this course only for airline pilot training?
While EBT was initially designed for pilot recurrent training, this course is highly adaptable. It explains how the EBT framework can be applied to any industry where periodic revalidation of employee competence is required, providing non-airline delegates with strategies to adapt these concepts to their local environment.
How does EBT differ from the CBTA training model?
The course clarifies the fundamental differences between the EBT paradigm and the Competency-Based Training and Assessment (CBTA) model. It also demonstrates how both models can be used together synergistically to enhance organizational training outcomes.
