This is a hybrid learning programme, where you will be participating in short online courses that you can do at your own pace, followed by scheduled live sessions. The online courses are designed to take full advantage of the interactive learning capability and social learning elements of the Raven platform. But above all, they will give you access to key information that complements your experience when starting out as an aviation auditor. The live sessions will help you to further develop the skills and competencies required for your new role. You will be able to share your own views and experiences with other course participants and subject matter experts, all having different professional backgrounds.
These interactions will not only make your learning experience more enjoyable, but also more relevant to your professional growth. We will cover key areas which have to be clear and well understood by any aviation auditor.
We have teamed up with several experts to establish a unique syllabus for this course programme. This programme was set with the following objectives at its core:
- to reach a comprehensive understanding of regulatory knowledge which will allow you to interpret, document and assess regulatory requirements in your auditing role;
- To build a multi faceted approach to auditing which includes regulatory, operational and human resource considerations; and
- To be qualified as an aviation auditor and fulfil your duties and responsibilities competently.
As I stated earlier, this course programme will be delivered in a hybrid manner. You will first be required to conduct a few digitally interactive courses at your own pace. All that is required is that you finish these courses successfully before attending the live sessions. These live sessions can be found in your course social group, and are usually conducted at the end of the course’s window.
If, for any reason, you miss any live session, don’t worry. You can send a message to your course mentor to attend the live sessions for the following course window. But this is only allowed once.
The course is split into 5 sections. The first section is focused on EASA regulation, starting with a review of the Basic Regulation. This is followed by a short course on the EASA rulemaking process, and the role this process plays in European aviation safety. Finally, you will close this section with a high level review of the EASA Air Operations Regulation.
The second section is a short course on safety management systems fundamentals. Thirdly, we will go together through the audit process, including audit preparation and conduct.
We will then move to a live session which will help you improve your self awareness, communicate better and manage change in your dynamic environment.
Finally, we will have an audit workshop which will simulate your conduct as an auditor, discuss outcomes with your peers, and discuss findings and audit report writing.
